Prof. Jacek Starzewski, MD, PhD, is an experienced general surgeon and a renowned specialist in the field of coloproctology.
He obtained his doctorate in medical sciences and his second degree specialization in general surgery in 1971 and 1972, respectively.
The next step in his career was to submit his habilitation thesis and obtain the title of Doctor of Medical Sciences. This took place in 1982.
In 1996, the President of the Republic of Poland awarded him the title of Professor of Medical Sciences. Professor Starzewski gained his experience while working in many renowned clinical centers.
He served as head of the General Surgery Department at Hospital No. 1 in Sosnowiec, and from 1997 as head of the General Surgery Department at the Miners’ Hospital (now the St. Barbara Provincial Specialist Hospital No. 5).
In addition, from July 2000 to October 2006, he held the position of head of the Department and Clinical Division of General and Coloproctological Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice.
He currently serves as a provincial consultant in the field of general surgery. In addition, he has improved his professional qualifications through numerous internships and training courses at renowned foreign centers. At the Mazan Surgery Clinic, he provides consultations in the field of proctology.
