Bariatric patient coordinator – this position plays an important role in the interdisciplinary treatment of obesity. It responds to the expectations of patients, who can obtain unlimited help and answers to their questions about obesity treatment. I work in the administrative department on a daily basis, but my experience, frequent contact with patients, and knowledge of obesity treatment have contributed to my taking on this new role.
As a coordinator, my job is to provide information on possible treatment methods and to supervise the preparatory processes for surgery. I set dates and coordinate meetings with the attending physician, dietitian, and psychologist. My responsibilities also include working with patients to ensure their safety and achieve the desired therapeutic outcome.
In 2016, I underwent sleeve gastrectomy surgery performed by Dr. Grzegorz Kowalski. I had been obese for most of my life, and bariatric surgery was the first step towards a different, lighter, more comfortable life.
Thanks to my gastric reduction surgery, I know what difficulties patients may encounter in the subsequent postoperative stages. I can share my experiences, before and after the surgery, and provide advice and guidance. Over the past four years, I have been preparing for this position by participating in professional courses and training. I have also completed studies in dietetics and eating disorders.
