local or general anesthesia
Facial appearance is extremely important to most people. Problems may include sunken cheeks, lack of visible cheekbones, overly sharp facial features, poorly developed contours, or facial defects due to trauma. Facial implants are used to reconstruct, augment, and rejuvenate certain facial features. Facial contouring surgery with implants can be combined with other procedures, such as a facelift.
The implantation procedure is similar for all areas of the face. It involves a small incision in an inconspicuous area near the intended implant site. Most often, they are located inside the mouth on the gum line, lower eyelid, or chin crease. A pocket is then created and the implant is placed in it.
After the implant is in place, the cut is stitched up and a bandage is put on. The procedure for putting in silicone elastomer or Gore-Tex inserts is done with local or general anesthesia.
Then, cheek implants can be put in through the cuts made for the facelift.
Implants are most often made of silicone or Gore-Tex.
Implants are permanent, so there is no need to replace them.
Recovery takes approximately 7-10 days, and during this period, facial movements and bending should be limited. A soft diet should be followed, and the mouth should be rinsed with a specialized disinfectant after each meal if incisions were made in the oral cavity.
