Ear correction surgery is an effective method of improving your appearance, restoring your self-confidence and allowing you to feel better about yourself. Thanks to otoplasty, you can get rid of complexes related to protruding ears – by changing their shape, angle of deviation or size. Whether you want to correct slight irregularities or reshape the auricle, this procedure gives a natural effect that improves the proportions of the face. The ear correction procedure

The procedure involves reducing the angle of the auricle in relation to the skull and restoring its correct anatomical shape. Excess skin is removed from behind the auricle, the cartilage is incised, appropriately shaped with sutures, and fixed in the correct position.

Sometimes it is necessary to remove a fragment of cartilage. Cartilage does not have the ability to fuse, so its individual elements are permanently joined with non-dissolvable sutures. The skin is closed with thin sutures.

The procedure is most often performed under local anesthesia, after which the patient leaves the clinic. The exception is young children, in whom the procedure is performed under general anesthesia and the patient remains in the clinic for the next few hours.

Post-operative recommendations after ear correction

After the procedure, there is significant pain, swelling, redness of the skin, and sometimes minor bleeding from the wounds. It is necessary to take oral painkillers. The stitches and postoperative dressings are removed on the tenth day after the procedure. For several weeks, the ears should be protected from injury, overheating (hair dryer), and freezing.

After the procedure, there is a noticeable decrease in sensation in the skin of the auricles. For at least two months, you should sleep with a headband to protect your ears from accidental injury during sleep. For about 3 weeks after the procedure, it is advisable to limit physical activity (avoid sudden movements and strenuous exercise). During the initial period after the operation, hot baths, saunas, and solariums should be avoided.
